Working out: Mental health benefits//Entry # 1
Hey all! My name is Ray and I wanted to share some information about working out and the possible benefits of consistent exercise.
There are many benefits to consistent exercise, including physical and mental health. Working out can prepare and energize you for the beginning of the day or help you wind down after you have finished working a long day.
Today, we will discuss the mental health benefits of consistent exercise. Building a pattern is the main benefit of working out at least 4 - 5 days. By showing up 4 - 5 days, you allow your brain to build a habit. You don't even have to work out a lot; just show up and walk on the treadmill for 10 minutes. That small goal will eventually become a daily habit. It will reframe your mind and become something you do without thinking.
Another benefit is it will help your self esteem. When you start to show up for yourself on a daily basis it makes you more trustworthy to yourself and will help you not only with your goal in the gym but also in life.
Have you ever told yourself you were going to do something and it gets to the end of the day and that task is still incomplete? It may be because you haven't built a steady habit. You are so used to telling yourself “I’ll get it done later” and later comes and its still not done. Well, your brain notices that and builds a habit of procrastination. Now imagine if you replace that procrastination with a healthy habit. It may not be over night but your brain will start to change from “I can't do this” to “I just have to be more intentional.”
All in all, you dont have to work out to improve your mental health but it could help. So, if you feel like everything is hectic and you are struggling with low self esteem, start with one small step. Create one daily goal and achieve it because in doing so you will not only build trust in your abilities but you will also attain a feeling of achievement on a daily basis, which eventually will lead you to improve your daily life.
